All the smileys found on this site were found in the public domain, i.e other internet forums and are assumed to be in the public domain or intended for use by the public. With the exception of
Merv's Smileys, none of the smileys found on this site have been taken from other smiley sites, I watch my logs and locate the forums where people hotlink to my smileys, where I often find smileys that have not previously been added to this archive. This means I have no way to determine actual ownership of any particular smiley.
If you are a smiley creator and see one of your smileys on this site and would like proper credit, your own gallery or even removal of the said smiley, drop me a line and I'm sure we can come to some agreement. In the case of wanting a smiley removed I will need the smiley filename and the link to the page where the smiley resides on before I can delete it but I have no problems complying to such a request should that be your choice.
www.FreeSmileys.org has always been a free archive and although there are ads on the site we do not incentivise those ads nor charge for any sort of premium access in any way. It is a free to use archive by anyone who wishes and is able to do so. We realise that not everyone is able to or can afford to host their own site and store their own smileys there, so we are willing to host them for the public free of charge, We do this because we love smileys and believe everyone should have the chance to use them to bring colour to the net and to their words.
Smileys really are a wonderful thing on the net and we intend to promote their use where we can but not at the expense of the creators as mentioned above.
